CDM Advice – 2015 Regulations

In April 2015 the CDM Regulations changed dramatically and were updated from the 2007 regulations.,

The 2015 Regulations differ mainly from the 2007 Regulations in the following ways:

  • Notification threshold and requirements changes
  • A ‘principal designer’ role replacing that of the CDM coordinator
  • The domestic client exemption’s removal
  • A simplified Approved Code of Practice (with guidance for specific sectors)
  • Detailed competence requirements removed in favour of a more generic framework

Let our CDM consultants provide expert CDM advice &/or training on your next commercial or domestic project in Bournemouth, Poole, Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, Surrey, London, Devon or Somerset.

CDM 2015 applies to ALL construction work irrespective of size and duration and is covered under CRIMINAL LAW when things go wrong. ALL work on the fabric of a building or the alteration of services are considered construction work and so CDM 2015 will apply.

CDM Regulations 2015 covers works such as:

Construction, alteration, conversion, fitting out, commissioning, renovation, repair, upkeep, redecoration or other maintenance (including cleaning which involves the use of water or an abrasive at high pressure, or the use of corrosive or toxic substances), de-commissioning, demolition or dismantling of a structure.

There are guidelines set out by the CDM Regulations 2015, specifically delegating certain roles and responsibilities and these apply to both commercial and domestic projects.
There are different duties appointed to these roles, the main duty holders being:
• Client
• Principal Designer
• Principal Contractor
• Contractor
